Jazmine Deng is a Chinese-Australian interdisciplinary artist living on Kaurna Land (South Australia). Her work explores her personal (dis)connections between herself and her family members, grappling with themes of inter-generational contradictions and absurdity. Jazmine’s materials are sourced from archived family photographs and found items that already hold an existence within the world. She works in performance, installation, moving image, paper collage and painting.

Since graduating with a Bachelor from Adelaide Central School of Art in 2021, she has exhibited solo shows such as “there is so much (.. play, eat, rest, sleep, i can finally see you now)” at FELTspace and “Hoa Huy” at Nexus Arts Gallery. Jazmine has also received a commission from fineprint magazine as part of their PAUSE~PLAY moving image commission, titled “Jiu Tong Deng” as well as the Reflective Screen commission for the Adelaide Film Festival, titled “The Taoist and Enlightened Monkey, Sun Wu Kong”. She has held a performance residency for MUD: HUMUS presenting “cut me a slice of you I am dying for more of who you are” at Ancient World.
